Greek salad is a delicious and nutritious salad featuring feta cheese and olives.
For most of my life, I was convinced that Greek salad included iceberg lettuce leaves… It wasn’t until last year, when we spent a few days in Athens and I tasted this delicious local dish in several restaurants, that I noticed it actually doesn’t include any lettuce. I like both versions of this dish, but I decided to add a recipe for traditional Greek salad, just as the Greeks prepare it.
Feta cheese is a Greek soft cheese with about 20% fat content, made from sheep’s milk or a mixture of sheep’s milk and goat’s milk.
Olive oil is a source of healthy fats and vitamins A, E, D, and K.

Ingredients for Greek salad:
- Feta cheese 1/2 package (100 g)
- Tomato 1 medium piece (180 g)
- Cucumber 1/2 medium piece (70 g)
- Olives 10 medium pieces (30 g)
- Onion 1 small piece (20 g)
- Olive oil 1 tablespoon (10 g)
- Oregano
Preparation of Greek salad:
Step 1: Wash the tomato, dry it, and cut it into eighths (remove the green, hard parts from the center). Wash the cucumber, peel it, and cut it into half slices. Peel the onion and cut it into feathers. Cut the cheese into fairly thick slices.
Step 2: On a plate, evenly spread out the tomato, cucumber, onion, and drained olives. Top with slices of cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and season to taste with oregano.
