Red lentil dahl soup is a very aromatic, nutritious, and incredibly tasty vegan meal. This dish is also known as dal or dhal—we’ve chosen the name most commonly used in the region from which it originates.
This thick and spicy meal has warming properties. The basic ingredients of dahl soup are lentils and tomatoes, with spices like turmeric, cumin, and coriander.
In this recipe, the spice garam masala, which includes cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, and black pepper, works wonderfully. Originating from India, it’s added to many dishes to impart a distinctive aroma. If you don’t have this spice blend, you can use the previously mentioned spices: turmeric, cumin, and coriander.
