8 proven ways to make grocery shopping quick, cheap and healthy

What are our proven shopping methods?

  1. We never go shopping hungry and without a shopping list. This way, we avoid buying things under the influence of emotions, completely unnecessary things.
  2. We pay attention to the freshness of products and whether the expiry date suits us in terms of the number of days we plan to shop for.
  3. We buy products that are as unprocessed as possible, without unnaturally extended shelf life. Due to various processes they undergo, their nutritional value is lower.
  4. We try to limit the purchase of products in aluminum, plastic, foil packaging. Materials of this type pollute the planet. And every attempt to limit the use of these types of raw materials counts.
  5. We carefully read labels. We try to choose products with a simple and shortest, preferably natural composition. If we are not sure about something, we use very helpful apps that help decipher what is in the product by scanning the barcode. As we know, not all products from the „E” group are harmful, just as certain complicated names hide something that need not be feared.
  6. We choose shopping hours when there is the least traffic. Everyone should observe and choose the most pleasant hours for shopping in their favorite stores. This way, we significantly shorten and make the time spent on grocery shopping more pleasant.
  7. Products like rice, groats, legumes, oils, or dried fruits we buy online. Mainly because it is much cheaper and above all more convenient.
  8. We try to shop as infrequently as possible. Of course, this is mainly conditioned by the type of food you consume, but we manage to shop every 4-5 days. You just need to have meals precisely planned for several days ahead. This way, we save a lot of time during the day. Additionally, more and more often, instead of stationary shopping, we choose shopping with home delivery. If you shop like us no more often than every 4-5 days, using home delivery of groceries is a very convenient choice.

The basis of successful shopping is good organization. Additionally, it is worth looking at whether some products are often thrown away by us – according to statistical studies, Poles waste food record-breaking (on average we throw away 9 million tons of food per year, and about 42% of people admit to wasting food). Therefore, it is always worth checking what products we have at home before planned shopping and create our list based on this. It is not worth buying too much. It is best to plan a weekly menu in such a way as to take into account how much the household members typically eat.
